Island Exhibitions Limited recently returned from a seven week stay in Las Vegas installing an 80 meter x 80 meter outdoor exhibition stand for Staffordshire based manufacturer JCB, designed by GLS Design Limited at Conexpo 2014.
The 69,000 square foot installation was an overwhelming success, situated in
the Gold lot it drew thousands of visitors every hour, thanks in part to the
fabulous ‘Dancing Diggers’, a show every hour on the hour featuring JCB
diggers of varying sizes doing choreographed ‘dancing’ set to music and
accompanied by a glamorous string quartet.
The stand comprised a two storey hospitality and sales building, a 180 foot video wall, our crew laid 6,500 meters of timber decking and a stage upon which the dancing diggers performed hourly.
In addition Island also built and installed an exhibition stand inside the convention centre for JCB DriveTrain.
Both projects were built from scratch in our Uxbridge based workshop in less than 10 weeks, the stand was completely bespoke and so every component had to be made to order including spraying every panel the famous JCB yellow, then fifteen 40foot containers took 4 weeks shipping all components to the USA. Our installation team flew out at the beginning of February and the onsite build took 5 weeks.
The 2014 Conexpo drew 130,000 visitors, covered 41 football fields, used 300 forklifts, 30 cranes moved roughly 100 million pounds of freight, and used 17,000 gallons of fuel to power generators and lights, bringing a non-gaming economic impact of $188.7 million to Las Vegas.
